RE: Block heater = BIG SMOKE?

The cord probably rubbed a spot and has a burned up area on it someplace, probably need to check every inch of the cord, probably find an area that is just burnt -- bare wires. JMHO

RE: Saw an A/C unit mounted sideways this weekend.

Actually there could be a problem with this. Oil needs to sump in the bottom of the compressor not on the side. He could be slugging oil thru the valves on the compressor which will do a lot more harm then good. He could have installed a casement window type unit that is built to fit in the side opening windows with limited side to side clearance. That would be my guess. Bill
It's a ROOF A/C, not a window A/C.
It is still on the roof, just rotated 90 degrees from straight forward.

RE: How to get an RV to Hawaii?

We are all in love with our own RV, it took a lot of planning and looking to come up with what we like and want, then after we purchased it we made it into (home), --- but --- for what it would cost to get it there might it be better if you took the money and just rented one when you get there?????? JMHO You might try and find someone who has had theirs brought over here from Europe and see how they got theirs here.

RE: Horizontal propane tank on Craigslist

Just looking @ the shut off valve handle, any informed propane dealer will not fill it because it does not have the OPD system. JMHO

RE: Camper Covers

Bought ours used, previous owner had a cover on it and it wore the paint off where the cover worked on it, the wind in Wyoming can make anything rub, even the snow is worn out by the time it gets to Nebraska.

RE: Drained in two weeks?

On our TC, the light stays on in the radio, the propane detector is powered, the CO2 alarm is blinking continualy, we always use the battery disconnect and unplug the umbilical cord to the truck when we get home.

RE: Long Distance Towing for RV and Truck

I have seen the setup you are describing on a lowboy trailer before, drilling and construction companies do this all the time in Wyoming.

RE: Interesting 12-volt issue

While you are checking on all the wiring, (take a close look @ the switch that is hanging up) all your problem could be in the switch. JMHO

RE: Breakaway Controller Mistake

The trailers I have towed, they key is only to be removed to, #1 "test brake lock up" or #2 "if trailer comes unhooked from tow vehicle while in transit to cause brake lockup". My understanding of the system is that when (key) is removed there should be full battery voltage (the on board trailer battery) sent to the trailer brakes to stop the trailer as soon as possible and will apply this voltage till the battery is dead, fuse blows, or controler burns up. RE: Honda EU 2000i (little used, runs poorly)

First, drain what fuel there is in the tank, add new fuel and stop by a Napa or like store and purchase some "Sea Foam" add what the directions call for, run the gen untill it will run on its own without having to choke it then add some load so it will do some work, plug in your RV or the such. Personaly I would drain it if you are not going to use it for a year or so but it would be better if you ran it with load at least every other month, but then again this is just my opinion.

RE: newbie help - 2000 Starcraft Fleetstar 1050

Try and take a look around rear door on the outside, should be a metal tag with info on it. Sometimes there is info on the inside of a cupboard door. The COG will determine if it will work on a short bed or not, there should be labeling on the outside, measure from the mark to the front of the camper (that fits inside the truck box), then measure your truck and if the COG measurement comes no further back than the center of rear axel you should be OK. RE: Companies making 8', long-bed campers with an inside shower

Do not know if your choices include (used) or not, if they do keep an eye out for a "Summerwind" I believe the last year of mfg was around 02. We have one built in 99, it is an 811, no slide inside wet shower. Love the rig and have seen ones with slides in our area for sale.

My camper has been on the truck since the truck was bought in 06, took it off once while I installed the flatbed, and once to have some work done by the dealership.

RE: Truck Repair Manual

I purchased books for a previous GM I owned thru GM, but while I was @ the dealership the other day, they were looking things up on the computer, even printed me out a couple of pages to take with, maybe they have CD's they sell now, might try their website and see if there is anything available.

RE: Yellowstone 9/20 - 9/23

A lot depends on temp. and snow amounts, the colder it gets and the deeper the snow, the faster they leave. Plan on being there @ same time or a week later. You going to the 50th aniv. party tomorrow? check the second picture in (my profile.)

Yes, went from a 3/4 ton to a 3500 DRW, same camper and could not believe the differance in ease of driving, I am not wore out at the end of day just from tension caused from driving the SRW. JMHO SEE (My Profile)
